Big Frog Custom T-Shirts

Opening on January 8th, a few doors down from El Azteca, Big Frog should be your go-to spot for custom shirts here in Dunwoody. Perfect for fundraisers, family reunions / vacations, or just having that perfect shirt for the occasion.

Taqueria Los Hermanos

Your kid’s newest restaurant to rewatch the one Pixar movie downloaded to your phone will be a familiar location. The ol’ Wing Factory will soon become a Taqueria Los Hermanos. That’s right, the Shops of Dunwoody are finally getting a Mexican restaurant. Not a pizza place and not a bank!

To see what these brothers are already up to, visit one of their existing locations.

New 285 exit lanes onto Ashford Dunwoody

You may have noticed GDOT has been clearing the way for new exit lanes onto Ashford Dunwoody. So nope, this isn’t for the Top End project, but they are leaving room between the new exit lanes and where 285 is now for potential elevated lane pillars. Which is good news for Georgetown Rec members as the elevated lanes wouldn’t be any closer than the exit lanes.

Porter Brew & Que 2.0

Porter Brew & Que, Dunwoody’s only brewery, has got a brand new GM, Greg Gordon, a resident experienced in managing restaurants / food trucks. Expect them to show up more places around the community this year and stay tuned for their Grand Re-Opening in 2020, to kick off new food and new beer.

Parents! Did you know they added a Kid’s Menu last year??

Brook Run Improvements

The city is well underway constructing some major new features to Brook Run. Aiming for a March 21 grand opening, here’s what’s coming…

  • A great lawn with a performance stage, terraced seating, expanded levels of open space, restrooms and an upgraded event pavilion
  • Two multi-sports fields with a concession stand, overlook plaza, improved parking, restrooms, and an added entrance from Barclay Drive.
  • A new covered picnic pavilion area, new restrooms and additional parking
  • Disc golf course

Iron Hill Brewery coming Summer of 2020

Well if the Dunwoody Marta station isn’t too far to drive to for Dunwoody residents (<sarcasm) you can trek over to the newest Iron Hill Brewery location. From their press release…

“Iron Hill Perimeter will partner with Chicago-based Aria Group Architects to design the brewery and restaurant, which will have on-site brewing, a dining room, a bar and patio seating in addition to its 350 seats across the 7,500-square-foot space.”

Perimeter Marketplace (geese be damned)

This probably won’t be finished in 2020, but don’t expect the geese pond by P.F. Changs to see another year. Here’s what’s on the horizon for that space… “Perimeter Marketplace includes a grocery store, restaurant and retail space, a RaceTrac gas station and future plans for a hotel.”

Bread Winner Cafe

Also coming soon to the Shops of Dunwoody is a much-needed replacement for Wright’s Gourmet. The existing Breadwinner in Sandy Springs specializes in gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads and bread made onsite. See more of what to expect this year at their website.

NFA Burger’s Expanded Hours (already happening)

NFA made a great impression late in 2019 with their incredible burgers. With their soft-launch a success they are now serving until 7:30 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. NFA shares their location with the Chevron station on Chamblee Dunwoody and hey, what’s more ‘Merica than gas and burgers! Be a patriot and check them out!

Bufalo Wild Wings (and a rooftop bar??)

One wing place leaves Dunwoody, and another arrives. It’s the circle of life. This location would be near the Chic-Fil-A (off Hammond Drive, in the Perimeter Mall parking lot). Will it have a rooftop bar? Sorta looks that way.

Lazy Dog Restaurant

Also slated for an out-parcel in the Perimeter Mall parking lot is a Lazy Dog and next to that a Sixty Vines. A Lazy Dog just opened in Peachtree Corners, and if you like a HUGE menu, well this is the place for you! It’s also dog-friendly because, well, nothing says ‘eating out’ like someone else’s animals underfoot.

Wait, there’s more by the mall: Sixty Vines

Sixty Vines offers 60 wines (get it?) by the glass in a variety of sizes and a menu including meat and cheese boards, sandwiches, salads and pastas. From their website, it looks like we’ve got a new go-to spot for Ladies Night! When they list “Experiences” in the website menu, it’s already safe to say an excessive number of TV’s and shedding dogs will not be a part of what to expect.

Dunwoody’s New Mayor and Council

2020 has already seen one big change for the city of Dunwoody. We have a new mayor, Lynn Deutsch and two new council members: Joe Seconder and Stacey Harris.

HUGE NEWS! Village Orthodontics espresso machine moves upfront!

Dr. Bret Freedman has been stress-testing his new espresso machine with staff, but rumor has it his fancy caffeine-box will be upfront for visitors sooner than later. So while your kid is learning how to floss around braces, you can get super-wired for the next thing you gotta haul your kids off to.
