I started my What's Up Dunwoody media brand in 2018 and spent years covering one city. I love Dunwoody. I live here. It will always be the core of what I do.
But I have deep roots across the surrounding communities too. I grew up in Gwinnett. My wife's parents lived in Chamblee. My kids go to school in Peachtree Corners. I live about a mile from Doraville. We lived in Brookhaven before we moved to Dunwoody. These are not just cities on a map to me. They are places I drive through, eat in, and spend time in constantly.
After a while, I kept running into stories that did not fit inside Dunwoody. A new development in Chamblee. An amazing restaurant opening in Peachtree Corners. A trail project connecting communities across the north side of Atlanta. These stories were right next door, they mattered to the same people who follow What's Up Dunwoody, and nobody was telling them in a consistent, hyperlocal way.
I also wanted to keep up with what was going on across the top end more intentionally. Covering these communities has brought my knowledge of the area up dramatically. And because real estate was part of the brand from the beginning, it has made those conversations much easier and more natural.
So in November 2025, I started Top End ATL.
The Short Answer
Top End ATL is a hyperlocal media brand covering the communities along the top end of I-285 in metro Atlanta. That includes Dunwoody, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, Peachtree Corners, and Sandy Springs, along with the surrounding cities that make up the northern arc of the Perimeter. Content publishes on Instagram and TikTok as short-form video. The goal is simple: help residents understand what is happening in the communities around them. Or as I end every video: “I'm Matt Weber, an Atlanta REALTOR® who follows the top end of the Perimeter so you don't have to.”
Where the Name Comes From
The top end of the Perimeter is the stretch of I-285 that runs across the north side of Atlanta, roughly from where GA-400 exits on the west to where I-85 comes in on the east. That corridor connects Chamblee, Doraville, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, and the cities around them into one continuous community. People who live here cross city lines constantly. The top end of the Perimeter is the thread that connects all of it.
The name comes from a phrase that locals already use. Residents, business owners, and real estate professionals across this area have long referred to it as the top end. It is geographic shorthand that people here understand immediately, even though no city government ever named it that way.
The name is also intentionally narrow. Someone in New York or Chicago might have no idea what Top End ATL means. That is fine. In a lot of ways, the name itself acts as a filter. If you immediately understand what it means, you are probably part of the audience.
Most media brands try to broaden their audience. Top End ATL does the opposite. The goal is not the largest audience possible. The goal is the most relevant audience possible. Hyperlocal content becomes more valuable as it becomes more specific. A national audience might be impressed by a million views. A Top End ATL audience cares that a new restaurant just opened in Chamblee, a trail is being extended in Peachtree Corners, or a major development was approved in Brookhaven. That is the difference between mass media and hyperlocal media. The value comes from being geographically specific.
What Cities Does Top End ATL Cover?
The primary coverage area includes:
- Dunwoody
- Brookhaven
- Chamblee
- Doraville
- Peachtree Corners
- Sandy Springs
Depending on the story, content sometimes covers Roswell, Johns Creek, Norcross, and other communities along the northern Atlanta arc. Each of these cities has its own distinct personality, strengths, and identity. Doraville, for example, is one of the most culturally interesting and genuinely underreported communities in all of metro Atlanta. Hyperlocal coverage there is rare, which makes it one of the places where this kind of content matters most.
What Kind of Content Does Top End ATL Make?
Short-form video. Instagram and TikTok are the primary platforms. Videos are concise, visually driven, and built around one question: what is happening around here that you should know about?
Topics include new restaurants and business openings, mixed-use developments, commercial real estate projects, parks and recreation, community events, road and transportation projects, local history, and hidden gems that deserve more attention.
What Top End ATL does not cover is just as important as what it does. No politics. No crime reporting. No national news with a local angle stapled on. Top End ATL is not a news brand. It is a local information brand. That distinction shapes everything, from story selection to tone to what gets left out entirely.
Where the Ideas Come From
Most ideas come from paying close attention to local outlets, planning documents, business filings, and community sources across the coverage area. A lot of great local information already exists. Most people just never see it. The goal is to surface it and bring it to an audience that would find it valuable.
How It Started
I put out 50 videos in 50 days when I launched in November 2024. The first month hit 200,000 views on Instagram. I was not expecting that.
I have backed off the pace since then, but the content keeps coming. And honestly, the Top End ATL videos have probably benefited my What's Up Dunwoody Facebook page and reels more than anything else. They also drive a significant amount of clicks and views to my Matthew Weber YouTube channel. When you give people useful local information consistently, they stick around regardless of platform.
Why This Also Matters for Real Estate
Top End ATL is not a real estate brand. But most of what it covers directly influences where people choose to live. New developments, school quality, restaurant scenes, transportation projects, walkability, community identity. Those are the same factors that drive real estate decisions on the north side of Atlanta.
Real estate has been part of the brand since day one. That was intentional. Covering these communities the way I cover them has deepened my knowledge of the area and made me a better resource for buyers and sellers across the top end.
