Dunwoody High School is about to break ground on Seacrest Stadium Dunwoody. The Bring It Home campaign has raised over $1.2 million toward its $1.5 million goal, contracts are being finalized, and construction is imminent. If the build stays on schedule, the Wildcats could play their first-ever home game — on their own campus — before the end of the 2026 season.
What's Being Built
Seacrest Stadium Dunwoody will be the first on-campus home field for any DeKalb County high school. Right now, Dunwoody High doesn't have the required 3,000-seat capacity to host varsity games — which means the Wildcats have never played a true home game on their own campus. That changes with this project.
The new stadium adds 2,000 seats, bringing total capacity to 3,000. It also includes a modern press box, restrooms, concessions, a ticket booth, fencing and landscaping, and a new sound system. The entire project is 100% privately funded — not a single taxpayer dollar involved. Every contribution comes from the community through the Bring It Home Dunwoody campaign.
Where Things Stand Right Now
The campaign has raised $1,277,510 of its $1.5 million goal as of May 2026. With the finish line in sight, organizers are moving into the construction phase. The estimated build time is 9 to 12 months — which puts a fall 2026 opening within reach, at least for the final home game of the season.
The DeKalb County School Board approved the project MOU back in August 2025, and the Dunwoody High School Community Association is managing the build. Construction is being planned so no upcoming school events are impacted. Parking is already handled — 645 onsite spaces, with overflow at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church and GSU's Dunwoody Campus for bigger games.
The Name Behind the Stadium
The stadium is named after Ryan Seacrest, a 1992 Dunwoody High School graduate and the project's lead donor. His major gift — kept anonymous until the naming was approved last December — was what jumpstarted the campaign and made the fundraising timeline possible. Ryan and his family have been working toward this for more than 20 years. The stadium also carries personal meaning: Ryan's father, Gary Seacrest, passed away recently, and the naming has become part of that legacy for the family and the community.
Why This Matters for Dunwoody
Growing up in Gwinnett, Friday night football was a big deal. Not just the game itself — it was the whole week leading up to it. The buzz, the anticipation, everybody counting down together. And then Friday night would come and the whole community would show back up on campus. That always stuck with me. Campus isn't really a place the community gets invited into very often. A home stadium changes that.
Beyond football, the stadium will host flag football, lacrosse, soccer, track, graduations, and community events. It's a gathering place the city has never had.
It's also one more reason families choose to put down roots here. If you're researching a move, check out our moving to Dunwoody guide and our breakdown of Dunwoody school districts — two of the biggest questions I get from buyers coming into this area.
