When most people think of living in Dunwoody, they imagine quiet suburban streets, family parks, and maybe an early dinner at a local eatery. What they probably don’t picture is jello shots served in giant syringes, late-night dancing under neon lights, or a bar theme that celebrates the scandalous, wild, and unforgettable side of sports. But that’s exactly what you’ll find at Streakers, the brand-new sports pub inside Politan Row at Ashford Lane.
What’s Up Dunwoody podcast host Matt Weber sat down with beverage manager and concept co-creator Mara Mullen to talk about how Streakers came to life, why it's the bar Dunwoody didn’t know it needed, and how Politan Row is redefining the local food and drink scene.
Not Your Average Sports Bar
From the moment you walk into Streakers, you know this isn’t your basic Falcons-meets-Bud-Light type of sports bar. The walls are filled with iconic sports scandals — think Tonya Harding, Lance Armstrong, and a few streakers who made it into the headlines. Mara described it best: “Winning is fun, but losing sucks even more. This is a bar dedicated to the stories in sports. The gamblers, the juicers, the cheaters… the people that make it interesting.”
Instead of picking a team or a mascot, the Streakers theme is all about celebrating the bold personalities and moments that keep sports fans talking. You may not remember who won the Super Bowl in 1994, but you definitely remember Nancy Kerrigan vs. Tonya Harding.
From Concept to Cult Favorite
The name “Streakers” started as a joke — a Hail Mary idea tossed out by Mara in a brainstorming meeting with her Politan Row team. She figured it would never get picked. But to her surprise, the team loved it, and just a few weeks later, the concept came to life inside Politan Row at Ashford Lane.
As Mara told podcast host Matt Weber, “I really thought they were joking when they said we were going with it. But less than 30 days later, we were open.”
The location is in the back right corner of the food hall, just past Okay Anny’s Cocktail Bar. And yes, Okay Anny’s and Streakers are both under Mara’s beverage command. She runs all three bar experiences at Politan Row: Bar Politan (the main bar up front), Okay Anny’s (a neon-soaked speakeasy lounge), and now Streakers.
Jello Shots, John Dalys, and More
What makes Streakers stand out, aside from the unforgettable name and theme, is the beverage menu. There are the classics, like pub-style drafts and mixed beers (think Snake Bites and Dirty Hippies), but the real stars are the “juicers”—signature jello shots served in oversized syringes. Flavors are named after infamous athletes like Lance Armstrong and Lawrence Taylor.
Mara’s other favorites include the Darryl Strawberry Margarita and a house-made John Daly, which is basically an Arnold Palmer that’s all grown up. As she says, “Nobody's doing craft jello shots in the city right now, so they are super fun.”
Two Bars, One Vibe: Okay Anny's vs. Streakers
Just steps away from Streakers is another of Mara’s creative playgrounds: Okay Anny’s, a retro lounge that lives somewhere between the late '80s and early '90s. Trapper Keeper menus, floppy disk coasters, and Tom Selleck on the wall create a totally immersive neon nostalgia trip.
Matt and his wife even debated the era. “I said early 90s,” Matt joked. “My wife said 80s. We were pulling up the playlists to prove our points.”
Okay Anny’s stays open until 1 a.m. on weekends, with DJs, dancing, and a vibe that’s closer to a nightclub than anything else Dunwoody has. Meanwhile, Streakers is the place to catch the game, laugh at the scandals on the wall, and maybe try a syringe full of margarita mix.
Late-Night in Dunwoody? Finally.
Streakers and Okay Anny’s are leading a nightlife shift in the heart of Dunwoody. As Mara said, “There’s nowhere else to get a great crafted cocktail and stay out past midnight around here.”
And that’s exactly what makes these spots so important. Dunwoody locals have long driven to Buckhead or Midtown for a night out. Now they can enjoy world-class cocktails, cheeky jello shots, and lively crowds right at 4550 Olde Perimeter Way, inside Ashford Lane.
Anny's is open until 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Streakers goes until midnight. Want to keep the party going? Word on the street is Mara’s watching the analytics and might push Anny’s to 2 a.m. if locals keep asking for it.
