Show notes:

The first of 3 episodes in which we talk with Dunwoody Mayor, Dennis Shortal.

Mayor Shortal tells us about his upbringing in Missouri, his college days, his time with the Marines in North Vietnam, his career as a pilot for Eastern and Northwest airlines, and his entrance into the world of Dunwoody politics.

In this episode, Mayor Shortal talks about the progress Dunwoody has made since becoming a city 10 years ago. As he likes to say, his goal as mayor is to improve the quality of life for everyone in all parts of Dunwoody. That means tackling traffic, paving, police, parks, and all sorts of other things.

Paving Topics:

  • Every single road in Dunwoody has been rated
  • The worst are being paved first
  • The city is paving roads on a long-term plan, working through all roads

The mayor also talked briefly about the GDOT’s plan to possibly add raised lanes in 285. Entry and exit points for the project are currently under discussion.
